HMP Pentonville
. This exciting role is central to equipping prisoners with the skills to support their peers and manage conflict effectively in a custodial environment.
As the sole delivery staff member on site, you will design and deliver sessions that balance theoretical knowledge with practical mentoring and conflict management techniques. You will also prepare learners to successfully complete an
accredited Peer Mentoring qualification
, while coaching them to be positive influencers within the prison regime.

Deliver the
accredited Level 1 Peer Mentoring qualification
in line with awarding body standards.
Manage a caseload of up to
10 learners per cohort
, with regular rotations and new cohorts as required.
Maintain detailed learner records, progress tracking, and portfolios to meet assessment requirements.
Adapt sessions to accommodate diverse learning needs and prior knowledge, including SEN and neurodivergent learners.
Collaborate with an onsite
IQA (Internal Quality Assurer)
who supports delivery one day per week.
Uphold safeguarding, equality and inclusion, and prison security policies at all times.
Liaise regularly with prison staff to ensure smooth delivery and learner engagement.
About You:
Essential:
Experience delivering training, coaching, or mentoring to adult learners (ideally within justice, education, or youth sectors)
Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
Confident in working independently in a secure establishment
Able to maintain boundaries, professionalism and resilience in a challenging environment
Competent with administrative tasks including basic reporting, registers, and assessment documentation
Desirable:
Experience delivering accredited qualifications (e.g. peer mentoring, employability, life skills)
Teaching qualification (PTLLS/AET or equivalent)
Awareness of Ofsted EIF and the prison education context
