Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Solicitor to join our legal team as a consultant and on a freelance basis.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of family law and demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional legal services to clients navigating family-related legal matters. A lot of the enquiries relate to the family home - and removal of spouses holding a temporary leasehold interest.

We are starting a new, regulated (SRA) law firm in autumn 2025. So we are looking for someone to join as a consultant, handle the matters and build up a practice / the department.

Responsibilities

Provide expert legal advice and representation in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and financial settlements. Conduct consultations with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored legal solutions. Draft legal documents such as petitions, agreements, and court submissions with precision and attention to detail. Represent clients in court hearings and negotiations, advocating for their best interests. Maintain accurate records of client interactions and case progress using appropriate IT systems. Stay updated on changes in family law legislation and best practices to ensure compliance and effective service delivery. Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers and mediators, to support clients through their legal journeys.

Skills

Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear articulation of complex legal concepts to clients. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Proficiency in IT systems for case management, documentation, and communication purposes. A compassionate approach towards clients facing challenging personal circumstances, demonstrating empathy and understanding. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.

Pay: 25.00-150.00 per hour
