As a Consultant in our Business Partnering and Decision Support (BPDS) Northern Ireland team, you will be instrumental in helping our Public Sector clients navigate complex financial challenges. We act as trusted finance business partners, providing expert support in business modelling, investment appraisals, business case development and benefits management. Our advisory services extend to defining the role and responsibilities of finance business partners, optimising team structures, and enhancing their interaction with the wider organisation. We integrate decision support and benefits realisation rigour into a wide range of client engagements, from large-scale transformations to targeted delivery and operational improvements.

The strength of our relationships, as well as the depth and breadth of our skills, puts us at the heart of some of the most ambitious programmes undertaken in these industries. We are working with some of the largest and highest profile organisations, helping them to solve their most complex and challenging issues.
The primary focus of your role will be delivering projects and building lasting relationships with both new and existing clients using a combination of management and technical skills.
You will be responsible for:
  • Undertaking analysis through desk research and/or consultation to support the assessment of need and the identification of options in investment appraisal.
  • Undertaking economic analysis of identified options including: analysis of monetary impacts through the calculation of Net Present Social Value, analysis of non-monetary impacts through qualitative weighting techniques and assessment of risk with appropriate examination of impact and likelihood and identification of mitigation strategies.
  • Making recommendations based on a value for money assessment on significant investment decisions for major public sector clients.
  • Determining project management arrangements to deliver investment and prepare a benefits management framework for the realisation of associated benefits.
  • Completing benefits realisation analysis.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships to support and lead the sales process.
  • Supporting the management of the engagement lifecycle
  • As a consultant you will typically have responsibility for:
  • Working in a diverse team, within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
  • Applying excellent business writing skills to develop word report.
  • Preparing and delivering PowerPoint presentations.
  • Undertaking consultations through interview, workshops and/or focus groups.
  • Supporting or leading business development activities including writing proposals and working closely with our industry and client account teams.
You will also play an important role in supporting practice development activities such as developing new service offerings to take to market and contributing to thought leadership, contributing to the management of our business, including team communications, building finance and industry communities, and leading training and other talent initiatives.

  • A background in business/finance/economic advisory.
  • Demonstrable understanding of project/initiative/business costing.
  • Demonstrable understanding of business benefits associated with change.
  • Good business writing
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • High personal and professional standards.
Desirable:
  • Professional finance qualification or part-qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA).
  • Proven ability to manage and work effectively in teams.
  • Experience working within a public sector environment.
