Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board's Primary Care Contracting Team . We are seeking a highly motivated Band 5 Contract Support M anager to join our Contracting Team on a fixed term contract for 6 months as part of a job sharing role , supporting the delivery of Primary Care services across the Health Board , with a lead in GMS.



As the Primary Care Contract Support Manager, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred primary care services. You will support a broad agenda focused on service improvement and robust contract management.



The successful candidate will have extensive experience working within Primary Care, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a flexible and proactive approach to managing challenges.



Planning, developing, implementing and monitoring Primary Care Contracts for the ABUHB incorporating NHS guidance and policies/strategic direction in Wales.



Managing the Primary Care Contracts, including variations and performance management.



Contributing to the development and implementation of service specification.



Contributing to the developing, implementing and monitoring the Primary Care Strategies, ensuring that they meet the needs of our population and improve access.



Assisting with the management of the Primary Care budgets including contractor's fees and allowances.



Ensuring that knowledge of legislation and regulation relating to Primary Care professions is kept updated.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.



This post is fixed term/secondment for 6 months from start date, to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in the development and delivery of effective commissioning of primary care contracts across ABUHB in accordance with local and national commissioning strategies and priorities.



This is a key management role with responsibility for supporting a wide ranging agenda through the delivery of patient-centred, safe, effective primary healthcare services across ABUHB .



The post holder will support the Primary Care Contracting Team with the delivery, contract management and long term strategic planning of Primary Care services across ABUHB and also support service delivery within the Prison. They will also support the Primary Care Contracting Team in taking forward the strategic agenda for the Health Board.



The post holder will be responsible for collaborating and negotiating with contractors, service providers to identify and achieve service development and improvement, evaluating through performance management and manage the delivery of specific plans and projects to meet the healthcare needs of the local population



The post holder will act as the day-to-day contact for resolving contract management issues that arise within primary care. This will involve providing and receiving complex, sensitive or contentious information where there are barriers to understanding or acceptance, which are overcome using developed interpersonal and communication skills. The post holder will demonstrate appropriate analytical ability, comprehension skills, intellectual capacity and knowledge of relevant contract/legislation, regulatory frameworks, performance management, clinical governance and financial arrangements across Primary Care Contract services



This will include;
