Job Description

Our client, one of the country's leading full service sub-contractors for groundworks, civil engineering and construction, is seeking a Contracts Manager to join their expanding team to oversee and manage groundworks projects from planning through to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and lead groundworks contracts, ensuring successful delivery from inception to completion. Develop and oversee project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation. Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and efficient project execution. Monitor project progress, quality, health and safety compliance, and environmental standards. Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contractual documents. Identify potential risks and issues early, implementing effective solutions to mitigate delays and cost overruns. Ensure all work complies with current health and safety legislation and company policies. Lead and motivate site teams, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. Prepare and present progress reports and project updates to stakeholders.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within groundworks or civil engineering projects. Strong knowledge of groundworks techniques, materials, and construction processes. Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills. Sound understanding of health and safety regulations and legislation. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and contractual documentation. Proficiency in project management software and MS Office suite. Relevant qualifications (e.g., CSCS Management Card, SMSTS, First Aid) are preferred.

Desirable:

Degree or relevant qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. Experience working on large-scale groundworks projects.

Must have extensive previous Groundworks knowledge.
