As part of the senior management team, you will be responsible for the tactical management of the contract at the next Nuclear New Build project, Sizewell C. Sizewell C is a project to construct a 32-gigawatt nuclear power station with two EPR reactors in Suffolk. You will oversee the project from the very start covering all aspects of design, build, operate and maintain.

Location: Sizewell C (SZC)

Salary: \xc2\xa370,000 - \xc2\xa390,000

Hours: Monday - Friday 40 hours per week

The Contracts Manager for SZC will be a results-driven leader with exceptional contract management skills, you will work collaboratively with the Director of Projects on the development and implementation of the strategy for Sizewell C activities. Your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of a wide range of projects, including the installation of utilities, earthworks, roads and networks, and new commercial buildings, installing both temporary and permanent assets.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for supporting the strategic development and financial leadership of a \xc2\xa320 \xe2\x80\x93 \xc2\xa340 million pounds per annum organisation, and its growing turnover.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with third parties, enhancing our brand and supporting future growth.
  • Effectively managing the operational functions on the project to ensure best practices are followed, costs are controlled, the department maximises revenue generation and contribution to the company\xe2\x80\x99s operating profit and increases the value added to the company.
  • Lead, engage and motivate a team of Project Managers and Senior Project Managers.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, maintaining a 100% compliance level and zero serious pollution incidents.
  • Oversee and manage budgets, financial performance, and KPIs to achieve corporate targets.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies across the business.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, and timely delivery within the project teams.
  • Promote a consistent approach to client stakeholder management, providing technical advice and resolving issues promptly.
  • Implement and maintain CDM compliance and effective risk management strategies.
  • Manage program and resource allocation to meet objectives.
With a variety of stakeholders, communication is key to ensure a successful delivery. You will act as a subject matter expert, provide technical advice and recommendations as well as an escalation point to unlock challenges. You will need to think proactively and always be considering the next steps as system develop.

To do this successfully, you will need to build and maintain successful working relationships with client representatives and other key contractors and be adept at resolving problems quickly and effectively. This may include taking the senior role in managing emergencies and local incidents to minimise environmental impact and cost and risk to the client.

What are the requirements?

To be successful, you\xe2\x80\x99ll need:
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a similar role
  • Degree or equivalent qualifications in engineering or construction management
  • Strong background in managing projects of varying values
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial buildings, utilities, and roads and networks
  • Proven experience with NEC contracts and CDM compliance
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Exceptional organisational and time management abilities
  • Demonstrated decision-making and performance management skills
  • Motivational leadership style, able to mentor and develop teams
The role may include working at other sites or locations so you will need a full driving licence. You may be required to participate in and take part in a routine management standby function.
