At the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, a group of passionate and determined people work to design, develop, manufacture and race the cars driven by seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and rising star George Russell.

The Team has set a new benchmark for Formula One success during the sport\'s current Hybrid era, winning consecutive Drivers\' and Constructors\' World Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, and the Constructors\' Championship in 2021.

We have an exciting opportunity for an F1 Control Systems Engineer to join the Performance department.

Working in the Controls Applied team at our the state-of-the-art facility in the UK, you will be part of a team that is responsible for developing control systems from concept to application, covering all aspects of design, calibration and signoff.

The role:

  • Identify improvements and write control systems for the standard ECU.
  • Undertake calibration development to ensure reliability and deliver on track performance.
  • Perform data analysis and write algorithms to assess reliability and performance.
  • Generate prompt and accurate reports to communicate faults, concerns and potential improvements during events.
What we are looking for:
  • Must have experience in a similar role in the motorsport industry.
  • Experience writing and testing control systems using Matlab / Simulink.
  • Understanding of time series data analysis using Matlab or other similar tools.
  • Has high attention to detail and enjoys problem solving.
  • Has an understanding of vehicle performance, transmissions, hydraulic and electronic systems.
You must be keen to develop yourself by applying your skills and understanding to practical engineering challenges. We are looking for team players that are highly self motivated, proactive, innovative and inquisitive.

The work location will be predominantly in the UK and may encompass working multiple weekends and attending trackside events.
