We are seeking a dedicated Assistant to support our cook in delivering high-quality food services. The ideal candidate will assist with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining kitchen operations in a busy children's day nursery for tea snacks
this role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the hospitality industry, working alongside experienced kitchen staff. The position is paid and suitable for individuals committed to food safety standards.
Responsibilities
Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients from a designed menu
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in accordance with food safety regulations
Help with meal preparation for teatime service periods, ensuring timely delivery of dishes
Ensure all food handling practices meet hygiene standards and safety protocols
Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Skills
Experience in food preparation and cooking is welcomed
Knowledge of kitchen safety procedures and food safety standards
Previous catering experience is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within the kitchen setting
