38.5hrs per week Working 11hr shifts with every second weekend off.
Job Summary:
To co-ordinate all aspects of kitchen production so that food is prepared to the agreed standard and that time deadlines are met.
Key Responsibilities
oTo implement and coordinate all aspects of kitchen control e.g. menus, hygiene, health and safety, staff, cleaning and waste control.
To order catering consumables from current nominated suppliers in line with company purchasing protocols.
To have full understanding of H.A.C.C.P / Cooksafe, to ensure all staff adhere to H.A.C.C.P and all documentation are completed and signed appropriately.
To complete required audits for kitchen reporting any findings to the Facilities Manager
To prepare fortnightly menus for clients taking into account the content, balance, colour and nutritional values, in line with agreed budget.
To consult with clients on a regular basis to ensure that their needs and choices are
being met. Also attend the weekly community meeting to inform clients of issues relating to catering and receive feedback.
To prepare special diets for residents as directed by the nursing staff.
To maintain the agreed stock levels of food.
To implement and maintain an agreed deep cleaning schedule for the kitchen.
To work to COSHH regulations.
To carry out stock takes as required.
To work within agreed budget guidelines on staff costs and consumables and to cooperate in any action necessary so as to keep to budget.
To assist in the preparation of menus and costing.
To prepare meals and menus that prevent allergens risk.
To co-operate with requests from the Registered Manager / Service Manager and clients wherever possible.
To participate in line management supervision adhering to Abbeycare policies.
To participate in all staff personal development reviews and developmental training.

Qualifications:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Certificates
An appropriate catering qualification for the role
Experience:
Significant Cook experience
Significant and relevant high cover kitchen experience
Day to day organisation of a kitchen
Experience of working in a care home environment
Personal Qualities:
Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic
Works collaboratively with others sharing ideas and information at all times
Ability to maintain discipline, morale and boundaries
