Main Responsibilities
We are looking for a Nursery Cook to work 5 days per week Monday to Friday in our Nursery Kitchen. The hours will be 9.00-1:00pm but are subject to change.
To prepare nutritious meals and snacks, suitable for children from birth - 5 years, following nursery menu and catering for special dietary requirements.
To maintain levels of stock appropriate for menu requirements.
To assist with distribution and portion control and promotion of healthy eating.
To follow and maintain the catering budget as set out by the Nursery Manager.
To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene including a neat and tidy appearance.
To cook and store foods with a high standard of hygiene.
To wear appropriate protective clothing whilst in the kitchen.
To correctly store and label all foods fresh or frozen.
To safely dispose of all kitchen waste.
To maintain all kitchen equipment including the cleaning and washing of crockery and cutlery.
To ensure that the nursery staff follow good levels of hygiene whilst in the Kitchen
To maintain records required by law for Temperatures (CookSafe, Setting the Table) and COSHH)
To suggest new items & recipes for the menu and participate in baking and food education activities with the children
Skills & Attributes
Empathy and understanding of children under five.
Ability to write keep clear and accurate records.
Good organizational skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Able to work on own initiative
Requirements
Experience of working in a kitchen is desirable, however candidates without experience will be considered
Food Hygiene Certificate is essential
Part-time hours: 12 per week minimum
