Job Overview

Glenbervie Care Home is recruiting a Cook. The care home has 56 residents and we care for elderly (over 65) and adults (18-65). Glenbervie is a purpose built care home with spacious rooms with en-suites, a cafe for residents and staff, a pub for residents and an in-house large training room. The facility was opened in 2016 and we are looking for a cook to join our kitchen team who deliver nutritious and appetising food for our residents to enjoy.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications. Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are strictly adhered to during food preparation and cooking processes. Assist in the planning of menus, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and preferences. Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely meal service. Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report any shortages to management. Help train new kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and safety practices.

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen is preferred, with a strong understanding of culinary techniques. Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in meal preparation. Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. A genuine enthusiasm for cooking and creating delicious meals for customers.
