Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate 2nd Cook to join our team, in our exceptional care home (32 bedded). The ideal candidate will have a a keen interest in creating delicious meals that meet our high standards of quality and presentation. You do not need formal training, a good home cook is what we are looking for. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our residents. There is a head chef in place who will mentor you. you will also be supported by a kitchen assistant.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menus. Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and measuring spices. Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and culinary best practices. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service. Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist in ordering as needed. Participate in menu planning and development, offering creative suggestions for new dishes. Adhere to health and safety standards within the kitchen at all times.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar role. Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques. or willingness to learn Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fairly fast-paced environment. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. A passion for cooking and creating high-quality meals. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
