Job Summary:



We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cook to join our care home team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for preparing nutritious and appealing meals tailored to the unique dietary needs of our residents. This role is crucial in supporting the health, comfort, and overall well-being of our residents by delivering high-quality, well-balanced meals in a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:



Meal Preparation and Cooking

Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals and snacks for residents, following dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional guidelines. Ensure that food is prepared in an appealing way, with attention to taste, texture, and presentation. Accommodate special dietary needs, including low-sodium, gluten-free, diabetic-friendly, and other medically prescribed diets.

Kitchen Management and Hygiene

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety regulations. Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, handling, and disposal of food items. Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned and stored correctly, and report any maintenance or repair needs.

Inventory and Budgeting

Assist in ordering and managing food supplies, maintaining stock levels, and minimizing waste. Work within budgetary constraints, optimizing resources to ensure cost-effective meal preparation without compromising quality.

Resident Interaction and Care

Engage with residents to understand their food preferences and dietary restrictions, aiming to provide a positive dining experience. Collaborate with healthcare staff to monitor residents' dietary needs and adjust meal plans as needed. Be responsive to feedback from residents and staff, continuously improving meal service and resident satisfaction.

Qualifications and Experience:



Proven experience as a Cook, preferably in a care home, hospital, or other healthcare facility. Knowledge of food preparation techniques suitable for elderly individuals and those with specific dietary requirements. Basic knowledge of dietary restrictions and nutrition in elder care. Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
