Summary

We are seeking an Cook/Assistant Cook to join our dedicated team at Marian House Nursing Home. In this role, you will assist in meal preparation and food service for our residents, ensuring that their dietary needs are met with compassion and care. Your contributions will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents.

General Duties

Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and hygienic methods of work to comply with Assured Safe Catering requirements and documentation. Check goods received for quality, quantity and appearance and ensure the correct maintenance of records. Support the managing inventory, ordering and unloading supplies and organising storeroom. Cooking including continental dishes and service of food ensuring that a high standard of quality is maintained. Cleaning and sanitising the food preparation areas based on the Home and industry hygiene codes and health and safety standards. Cleaning of catering department areas, equipment and utensils and maintain high cleaning and hygiene standards. Ensure that meals and other food items issued are checked in accordance with procedure for quality, quantity, appearance and temperature prior to dispatch. Operating variety of kitchen appliances and instruments including cuttings, knives, mixers and ovens. Report the need for environmental and equipment maintenance and repair. Ensure all relevant paper is completed to the standard required and in line with all Legislation and Regulations. Report any mechanical defects and repairs to relevant person.

Requirements

Experience in food preparation and cooking variety of dishes. Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a kitchen environment. Compassionate attitude towards elderly care and an understanding of their dietary needs. Flexibility to adapt to changing menus and resident preferences.

Pay: 12.36-13.39 per hour
