The Cookery, Life Skills and Work Experience Teacher will play a vital role in delivering practical, meaningful learning experiences that support pupils with special educational needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and social, emotional, and behavioural needs. The successful candidate will deliver a rich, structured curriculum in cookery, independent life skills and vocational experiences. Lessons and activities will aim to develop independence, self-esteem, and readiness for adulthood.

The school supports pupil aged 11-19, with bespoke approaches tailored to EHCP outcomes. The cohort includes pupils with Autism and range of severe/complex learning difficulties.
Please note that Wembley Manor is currently on it's temporary site c/o Newman Catholic College, Harlesden Road, Willesden, London, NW10 3RN. We intend to move to our permanent site in September 2025 ready for the academic year. The new site is on London Road, Wembley, HA9.

Curriculum Leadership
Design, plan and deliver innovative and differentiated lessons across Cookery, Life Skills and Work Experience tailored to meet the diverse needs of pupils.
Develop and maintain comprehensive curriculum documentation in alignment with the school improvement plan.
Ensure appropriate assessment, monitoring, and reporting of pupil progress, and contribute to whole-school tracking systems.
Provide inspirational leadership to ensure Cookery, Life Skills and Work Experience are embedded into the wider school ethos and curriculum.
Teaching & Learning
Deliver consistently high-quality and engaging sessions that build pupils' independence, practical skills, and readiness for adult life.
Promote cross-curricular links and embed real-life contexts in teaching approaches to maximise relevance and impact.
Differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all learners, including those with complex learning needs.
Support colleagues by modelling best practice and contributing to a collaborative teaching environment.
Assess pupil progress and report/feedback to class staff, leaders and governors in regards to pupil progress and impact in these area
Resource & Health and Safety Management
Ensure the safe, effective, and efficient running of cookery and life skills areas, adhering to all relevant Health & Safety regulations.
Manage resources, including ordering and maintaining equipment, stock control and room organisation, within budget.
Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure environments are safe and conducive to learning.
Professional Expectations
Uphold and actively promote the ethos, vision and values of the school and Trust.
Engage positively in continuing professional development and performance review processes.
Adhere at all times to school safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies.
Take an active role in team meetings, reviews and the wider life of the school.
