Job overview

----------------

Do you want to play an important role helping to improve outcomes for disadvantaged children and families in Southwest London?

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to help make a real difference to the local community of Emanuel School.

The role

As Co-ordinator of Community Partnerships, you will support the delivery of Emanuel School's outreach and partnership programmes. These programmes support a culture of community service provided by our pupils and improve accessibility and outcomes for disadvantaged children and families in the local area.

The focus of this role is to co-ordinate and administer these programmes and the delivery of partnership work with local primary and secondary schools and community organisations.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the organisation and smooth running of the partnership strategy Maintaining relationships with local schools and charities regarding the placement of Emanuel pupils in partner schools and on projects Delivering positive and consistent messages about the outreach and partnership programmes via written publications, social media channels and the school website

This role is term time only. Flexibility will be needed according to planned events, and some evenings may be required.

About you

We welcome applications from candidates from a variety of professional backgrounds with transferable skills and experience, who are confident and personable, and able to demonstrate a record of developing and sustaining positive working relationships.

You may have worked in schools, charities, youth programmes or community organisations and are motivated by creating opportunities for children and young people--particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The role requires regular contact with local schools, organisations, charities and stakeholders, so it suits someone who is warm, personable and confident engaging with a wide range of people.

You will need excellent written and spoken English, along with the ability to effectively plan, resource, and organise projects and tasks and remain calm under pressure.

Working at Emanuel

There is always a buzz at Emanuel. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school. With a weekly staff briefing, half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, all of us are engaged in a lively ongoing dialogue about the school's aims and aspirations.

Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining us should expect to do the same and share our commitment to the highest standards. At the same time our ethos remains unpretentious, kindly and practical, and there's a strong sense of community and friendship at the school.

We aim to look after our staff well: we have an appraisal scheme with a focus on employees' professional development; we sponsor postgraduate courses and a range of training opportunities; we offer salary sacrifice childcare vouchers through TEDS Premier, we offer a healthcare plan via Simply Health that includes counselling and medical support; and we're committed to supporting staff wellbeing. Financially, all staff benefit from good pension provision and free lunches.

"The school whole-heartedly fulfils its aims to inspire endeavour, confidence and ambition in its pupils."

ISI Inspection Report April 2023

Welcome to Emanuel. We are a fully co-ed school of over 1100 pupils, aged 10-18, with over 200 teaching and support staff colleagues.

We are an ambitious community. This summer, 89% of grades at GCSE were awarded 9-7, which is a lift of 39% across recent years. Our A Level A*-A percentage is 64%. This is 31% higher than in 2018 and the school is now recognised as one of the best for academic achievement in the country. The last ISI Inspection report noted that: "Pupils make excellent progress across the range of subjects and significant value is added to their academic outcomes."

We are committed to developing all our major sports and value pupil participation as well as team and individual achievement. The school's critical build plan will see a significant investment in our on and off-site sports facilities across the next three years. The same site plan will support the outstanding creative and performing arts teaching at the school, as the school's plans for a large specialist science teaching block will also allow us to improve our facilities for music and drama, both traditionally areas of strength. We were delighted that these areas were recognised in the 2023 Independent School of the Year Awards when we won the award for our performing arts.

Beyond the classroom, we have a thriving partnerships programme, helping to develop our pupils at all ages as they participate in this work, and benefiting the local community, with over 1000 primary school children coming to use our site and work with our pupils each month. In 2021 we won the Independent School of the Year Award for our community outreach work.

At the heart of our school is a positive and welcoming culture. We are fortunate to have a committed and talented group of colleagues, people who recognise the importance of everyone at the school having a varied and fulfilling working life, giving them a sense of personal growth and shared enjoyment.

We wish you the best of luck with your application.
