We are looking to recruit an experienced Corporate M&A Lawyer with approximately 3-6 PQE to help us expand our Corporate team (with a focus on M&A although you will act on a range of transactions including for emerging growth and private equity backed business and their investors). The successful candidate will have displayed experience across a wide range of lower to mid-market transactions.

This role is not for those looking to join a traditional law firm. It is for legal pioneers who have glimpsed the future of law and who are determined to be amongst the first to stake their claim. We are building a market-leading mid-market M&A legal advisory business leveraging off the first class multidisciplinary advice Deloitte already provides to a stellar list of clients in the UK and around the globe. We will employ technology and great know-how to deliver a high-quality work product more competitively.

Connect to your skills and professional experience

Candidates will need to have a real interest in developing your industry knowledge and relevant sector experience including by providing multidisciplinary services. The successful candidate will have displayed wide-ranging experience across lower to mid-market transactions including but not limited to:

  • Exposure to a variety of mid-market M&A transactions.
  • Experience of acting for legal departments, management teams and funds.
  • Experience on acting on mid-market private equity transactions for funds, management teams and portfolio businesses.
  • Experience on acting for emerging growth businesses on their investment rounds through to exit or IPO
In addition, we expect associates to demonstrate:
  • A commercial focus
  • An enthusiastic and responsive approach to client requirements
  • Excellent people skills and a good, clear communication style with the ability to liaise effectively with other fee earners from within the group, but also to liaise and coordinate with fee earners from other departments and jurisdictions as required
  • A knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice
  • Delegation and supervisory skills where appropriate
  • Ability to work effectively in a challenging, team-based environment;
  • An active interest and ability to proactively support business development activity, creating and maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new business opportunities
  • A commitment to regularly update their own technical expertise and to achieve continuous improvement and development; and
  • The ability to contribute to the general upkeep of the group (e.g. training, precedents, or know-how generally)

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm.
