Job Description

We are recruiting a female counsellor to develop and enhance our Children and Young People's Service in the Wrexham and Flintshire area. This is a part-time role of 22.5 hours per week, with one of the working days required to be a Wednesday.

This post is restricted to women only under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, as it is an occupational requirement for the role.

RASASC NW

is a registered charity providing specialist support and therapy to children (3+) and adults living in North Wales, who have experienced any form of child sexual abuse, sexual abuse / violence and / or rape, whether this has happened recently or in the past. We also provide specialist support and therapy to partners and family members of those who have been affected by sexual abuse and violence.

The Role



We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Counsellor to join our Children and Young People's Service in the Wrexham and Flintshire area. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in the recovery journey of children and young people affected by sexual violence. You will work in a multi-agency context, providing therapeutic support, including pre-trial therapy, and helping clients and their families feel safe, supported, and heard.

Key Responsibilities



Provide face-to-face and remote counselling to children and young people aged 3+, and their families. Carry out risk and needs assessments, develop care plans, and make appropriate referrals to other services. Offer trauma-informed support to caregivers and/or support workers. Ensure safeguarding is a priority in all client work. Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with organisational and legal requirements. Work collaboratively with other agencies, including CAMHS, social services, education, and health professionals. Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training sessions. Contribute to service development and evaluation.

About You



Essential:



Diploma in Counselling Experience of working therapeutically with children, young people, and adults Understanding of childhood trauma, child development, and safeguarding procedures Ability to manage a caseload and work independently Strong communication and interpersonal skills Non-judgemental and trauma-informed approach

Desirable:



Qualification in counselling children and young people (or willingness to undertake funded training within the first year) Experience of working with survivors of sexual violence Welsh language skills Knowledge of the criminal justice system and pre-trial therapy guidelines

Please Note:



Enhanced DBS and 2 references are required for this post. This post is subject to a six-month probation period. The post holder must be currently eligible to work in the UK. The post holder must hold a full UK Driving licence and have access to their own vehicle. Applicants should note that the role requires a significant amount of travel across North Wales
