Weekly Schedule: Minimum of
40 hours weekly,
with some flexibility in covering absent colleagues including at weekends when requested.
Weekly Rota
Essential: Monday & Friday - 10:00 am to 7:00pm (1 hour unpaid break)
Occasional request to cover early shifts, and Saturday or Sunday as per business needs.
Qualification, Experience and Other Requirements
We are looking for a pharmacy
counter assistant
with good customer service experience. Experience in pharmacy would be ideal but not essential. We can provide necessary training in the course of the probation period. We would like a self motivated individual with caring skills and a great attention to detail especially in terms of product lines, price, and cash handling over the counter.
As we are an NHS contracted pharmacy with public vaccination services, we would look for a responsible team member who takes to standard operating procedures well and understands the role in support of clinical colleagues and trainees performing a critical function in the community in service to the public.
The role also involves some lifting, prolonged standing up to serve the public and dealing with challenging or demanding behaviours from customers who require specific health support. Someone with patience and understanding of individuals with personal health issues and the ability to handle pressure in public.

Required Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in customer service or any public facing role.
Duties and Responsibilities
Handing out prescriptions and referring clinical concerns to trained colleagues and the pharmacist.
Retail stock merchandising, and replenishing the display shelves.
Ordering stock, consulting with trained colleagues on stock purchases, and booking in deliveries.
Managing price labels including shelf edge information and promotions.
Facilitating sales of retail and OTC medication under supervision from trained colleagues.
Handling cash and card transactions including for NHS prescription charge with the public.
Talking to customers and allowing for some friendly crowd management when busy.
Hygiene and waste management in the premises including returned medicines and appliances. This also includes some usual cleaning duties such as wiping surfaces, mopping and general tidying together with your colleagues.
Undertaking training on health and safety, customers services, and counter assistant information including medicines handling and drug specifications.
Answering the telephone from customers and other health or social care professionals ensuring to refer to trained colleagues issues outside your level of competency.
Provide weekend cover and also relief cover of counter duties when colleagues are on holiday.
Ensuring safe handling of spoken and printed confidential information or data, and maintaining discretion and respect to all customers and patients.
Keeping to Wellbeing Pharmacy standard operating procedures and rules set by the NHS and other UK government regulations.
