The UCL Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP) is a multidisciplinary Institute committed to innovative research and teaching focused on how to build, enhance and ensure the sustainable prosperity of human societies across the globe. It was founded in 2014 by Professor Dame Henrietta L. Moore who is also the Director. It works collaboratively across the 11 Faculties of UCL and with a range of partners globally, including civil society organisations, government departments, communities and businesses. UCL Citizen Science Academy UCL's Citizen Science Academy is an innovative new initiative offering community-based, practice-led research education and training to empower citizens to lead change through social action and shaping policies that impact their livelihoods. UCL's Citizen Science Academy is based at the Institute for Global Prosperity and has been designed in partnership with UCL's Office for Open Science. It has an established history of collaborating with Camden Council on citizen social science projects. About the role
------------------
This post is to lead the co-design and delivery of a new UCL Citizen Science Academy research training programme in collaboration with the London Borough of Camden. The post is funded for 0.5FTE for 13 weeks in the first instance. It is offered at Grade 7 Point 31. The post will be held in the UCL Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP) and will work with the UCL Citizen Science Academy within the IGP. This fixed-term post is the next step of a developing collaboration with the London Borough of Camden and is the first citizen science project of its type funded through a local authority's Community Infrastructure Levy funding. The project has been funded through Camden Council's Planning team and is therefore expected to produce research of value to the planning team, informing future planning applications. The planning team have selected 'Safety for Women and Girls in Public Space across Camden' as the theme of the project.
About you

The post-holder will work with the UCL Citizen Science Academy team, staff at Camden Council, and local stakeholders to co-design a citizen science research programme awarding the UCL Citizen Science Certificate that builds on the Academy's previous community engagement and co-production work in Camden. The post-holder will be responsible for co-design, development, delivery, and evaluation of this new Citizen Science Academy research education and training programme developed to support citizen scientists from local communities to address locally determined research priorities. The course will be co-designed, delivered and evaluated in 2026. It is expected that eight local residents will be recruited, trained in basic research ethics, methods, and project planning, supported to undertake fieldwork locally, and develop research outputs. The citizen scientists will be compensated for their involvement, separate budget is available to support output production, and support will be provided throughout by the Academy lead and a teaching assistant.
