Responsible for:
Your role will be to supervise classes across Key Stage 3 and 4, during the short-term absence of the assigned teacher, taking the register, delivering set work, and ensuring student understanding of the tasks which have been set. You will also need to manage student's behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy, ensuring that students are on task and managing any immediate problems according to school policies. In addition to the cover supervisor duties,the successful candidate will be expected to support our SEN department.
The Cover Supervisor will supervise classes to cover for absent teaching staff, or be deployed to support students in lessons if there is no cover requirement.
You will need to be:
Reliable, committed and consistent
Organisationally excellent with strong IT skills
A strong communicator
Professional, preferably with some school context experience
Passionate about young people
Have good interpersonal skills
Calm manner
The ideal candidate will have 5 GSCEs at grades A-C, or equivalent, with sound numeracy, literacy and ICT skills and proven administrative and organisational skills. The ability to communicate in a professional and effective manner is essential. Experience of behaviour/classroom management and working with large groups of 11-16 year olds is preferred but not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.
