We are seeking a versatile and enthusiastic
Creative Assistant
to support our creative and production teams in hands-on making, material experimentation, design tasks and studio operations.
The role involves practical workshop activity, creative development, light admin and supporting product creation across a range of materials. You'll work closely with designers, makers and technical staff to help bring ideas from concept to finished product.
Experience in creative making is desirable but not required--
full training will be provided
on all machinery, software and processes.
Roles & Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
Creative Production & Making
Assist in the creation of products using jesmonite, silicone moulds, reclaimed plastics and other materials.
Support 3D printing: operation, cleaning, finishing.
Assist with injection moulding and trimming components.
Carry out light woodwork tasks.
Produce samples, prototypes and small batch items.
Support development of capsule collections and one-off products
Apply problem-solving and material-led thinking in all making tasks.
Design & Development Support
Assist early-stage design, prototyping and product refinement.
Support with Adobe Creative Cloud tasks (training provided)
Support or participate in 3D modelling or CAD work (training provided)
Document processes and maintain organised production guides.
Adapt creative approaches based on available materials and waste streams.
Studio Operations & Admin
Maintain tidy studios, tools, materials and storage systems.
Support emails, admin tasks, cost tracking and project logs
Communicate effectively with colleagues across Refactory and MyGroup
Assist with basic textiles tasks during peak busy periods if required.
Manage multiple tasks and meet agreed deadlines.
Report progress and any challenges to the Creative Manager
Candidate Criteria
Essential
Genuine interest in creative making or sustainable design.
Willingness to learn tools, materials, software and workshop processes.
Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
Strong organisational habits and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Positive, adaptable, problem-solving attitude
Desirable (training provided--not required)
Adobe Creative Cloud experience
3D modelling or CAD knowledge
Interest or experience in:
3D printing
Injection moulding
Woodwork
Ceramics

Previous workshop, studio or fabrication experience
