Job Description


Are you a qualified art, drama or music therapist passionate about leading and developing the creative therapies service to help our palliative patients and their carers/families live life as well as they can? If so, this exciting and varied role is just the opportunity you are looking for.

As Creative Therapist Practitioner and Coordinator you will:

Lead the Creative Therapies service within the hospice and its outreach locations, carrying out Creative Therapy assessments and therapeutic interventions.

Develop a coordinated supportive care and creative therapy service across our core services (inpatient unit, outpatient services and outreach), that uses a range of approaches e.g. art, drama, music, writing, craft and other wellbeing therapeutic techniques to support patients with a life-limiting illness, their families and carers.

Support Hospice projects and events when creative arts input is required, such as the annual memorial service, Light Up a Life.

Demonstrate professional expertise and ensure all tasks are completed in line with best practice and Hospice policy.

You will therefore need to demonstrate your abilities in the following areas:

  • A recognised professional creative therapy qualification eg BA (Hons) Creative and Therapeutic Arts.
  • Sensitivity and understanding to the needs of your team and customers, many of whom may have experienced Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care services or be bereaved.
  • Is dynamic and passionate about how creative/therapeutic interventions can help those in life limiting situations and their families/carers.
  • Is able to provide a quality service to a wider range of needs.
  • Is able to evaluate outcomes and feedback to inform future service design.
  • Can influence the service by providing great leadership and demonstrating out core values:
