Job Summary

Salary: Competitive (Dependent on Experience)

Hours: 37.5 hours P/W - Full-Time (Rostered)

Location: 33 Grosvenor Place, London, SW1X 7HY

Contract: 12 month fixed term contract

What are we looking for?

As an autonomous practitioner within a multidisciplinary team, the Highly Specialist neurosciences Occupational Therapist will assess, treat and manage their own caseload and provide highly specialist neurological occupational therapy skills. This role will report directly to the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist and be part of a highly innovative, evidence based, forward thinking neurosciences therapy team.

This role will provide therapy provision to the neurosciences wards and work within the wider therapy team providing occupational therapy expertise. With support from the Rehabilitation Services Manager and Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist ,this role will develop and progress education and research within occupational therapy. The role will motivate, empower, coach and develop team members through supervision frameworks. The role will have line management responsibility for therapy Caregivers within the occupational therapy team including annual appraisal duties.

What we need from you?

  • Current registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT) desirable.
  • Membership of special interest group desirable Competencies (Complexity of Work)
  • Specialist knowledge and experience in application of clinically reasoned, safe and evidenced based techniques, assessments, management plans and outcome measures in relevant clinical area of neurological occupational therapy.
  • Effective and adaptable communication using a variety of verbal and written techniques to the needs of the patient, family, carer and wider MDT
  • Ability to prioritise, delegate, organise and work effectively to a deadline \xef\x82\xb7 Ability to provide innovative, creative and evidenced based education to therapists and MDT.
  • To be able to lead and assist in rehabilitation / manual handling of complex and potentially dependent patients with appropriate equipment and compliance with manual handling policies.
  • To work in an inpatient environment with potential interruptions such as acutely deteriorating patients requiring urgent review, emotionally challenging scenarios requiring intense focus and frequent exposure to potentially unpleasant materials such as bodily fluids.
  • To be able to lead and assist in rehabilitation / manual handling of complex and potentially dependent patients with appropriate equipment and compliance with manual handling policies.
  • Extensive post \xe2\x80\x93graduate experience neurological occupational therapy at senior level.
  • Experience in acute complex neuro-rehabilitation and neurosurgery
  • Extensive experience of multidisciplinary / multi agency working at senior level.
  • Experience of audit, quality improvement, clinical effectiveness and project planning.
  • Experience of supervision, appraisal, development and managing performance including competency development.
