We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Credit Controller / Debt Recovery Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis (3 days per week - flexible hours). This role will primarily focus on following up on outstanding invoices and mostly importantly chasing old debts to improve cash flow and ensure timely payments. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a strong understanding of debt recovery processes.
Key Responsibilities
Contact clients with overdue accounts to remind them of outstanding invoices.
Negotiate payment terms and solutions for overdue accounts in a professional and diplomatic manner.
Update and maintain accurate records of communications and payments.
Collaborate with the team to resolve discrepancies and process payments.
Provide weekly updates on the status of debt recovery efforts.
Identify and escalate accounts that require additional attention or legal intervention.
Assist in reviewing and improving internal debt recovery processes and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
Proven experience in debt recovery, credit control, or a similar role.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Communicate with clients via phone and email to follow up on outstanding invoices, ensuring a professional and courteous approach at all times.
Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult clients.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Maintain accurate records of all communications and transactions.
Prepare reports on outstanding debts and provide analysis to management.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Knowledge of accounting and SAGE essential.
Previous experience in the construction industry is advantageous but not required.
