We're seeking an experienced and motivated

Criminal Solicitor Supervisor

with

Police Station Accreditation

to join a respected and socially focused law firm in

Hertfordshire

.

In this senior role, you'll balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on case management -- overseeing a team of solicitors, maintaining quality and compliance standards, and managing a range of complex and high-profile criminal defence matters.

Location:

Broxbourne, Hertfordshire

Salary:

45,000 - 50,000 (depending on experience)

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm (with on-call duties; time off in lieu provided)

Key Responsibilities

Supervise, mentor, and support junior solicitors and legal support staff. Oversee departmental compliance with

Legal Aid Agency (LAA)

and

SRA

standards. Manage complex criminal defence cases from initial instruction through to conclusion. Represent clients during police interviews and provide advocacy in the

Magistrates' Court

. Liaise with Counsel for

Crown Court

matters and ensure smooth case progression. Contribute to departmental improvement through performance monitoring, training, and process development.

Essential Requirements

Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales).

Police Station Accreditation

(mandatory). Proven experience supervising fee earners within a criminal defence setting. Strong understanding of

LAA compliance

, billing, and quality assurance frameworks. Excellent leadership, mentoring, and organisational skills. Confident managing complex caseloads independently. Local knowledge of

Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire

criminal courts.

Desirable

Duty Solicitor status. Experience assisting with

SQM

or

Lexcel

audits. Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Qualifications

Law degree (LLB) or equivalent. Legal Practice Course (LPC) or SQE qualification. Police Station Accreditation certification. Recognised

Supervisor Status

under

LAA

guidelines.
