Customer Services Assistant



Salary: 16,587 per annum



Hours: Part-time (25 hours per week) permanent



Work Pattern: 25 hours over 4 or 5 days

Life is home to NHS clinics as well as scientists and researchers from Newcastle University. Life Science Centre is at the heart of this 'circle of science' and aspires to be most accessible and inclusive visitor attraction in the UK. It has an international reputation for its work in sensory engagement.



We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join our Customer Services Team. As an integral member of the team, you will promote Life to our customers, schools and groups, including making them aware of the current science centre offer to families and schools plus special events and promotions. Key tasks will be answering telephone enquiries and making bookings, increasing the number of schools and group visits through targeted sales campaigns and researching new leads and maintaining and updating the bookings databases. You will also help to promote and boost sales of the annual membership scheme and seasonal outdoor ice rink as well as supporting the front of house during busy periods.

The ideal person will be experienced in customer service, well organised with excellent administrative, IT and communication skills. The ability to deal with customer enquiries in a friendly and efficient manner is essential, along with the ability to quickly grasp the types of services and packages Life offers. Experience of using an Access (Gamma) booking system would be an advantage but not essential.
