We are looking for a Data Governance & Compliance Manager to join our Technology and Sustainability Team in Leavesden (Watford). The successful candidate will lead the design, implementation, and oversight of data governance and compliance frameworks.

What you'll do:
Be accountable for embedding data governance practices and ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulations.
Lead the creation, management, and adoption of data dictionaries, catalogues, and stewardship frameworks.
Be responsible for monitoring compliance, addressing risks, and reporting on governance effectiveness.
Work with Data Architects, Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure trusted, well-documented, and accessible data.
Contribute to building a culture of responsible, transparent data use across the organisation.
Support innovation by ensuring governance frameworks and catalogues enable, not restrict, trusted decision-making.
What you'll bring to the role:
Bachelor's degree in data management, Information Management/Governance, Law, Computer Science, or a related field.
Proven experience in data governance, data protection, or compliance roles within a complex organisation.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or other relevant data protection laws.
Experience implementing data governance frameworks, catalogues policies, and controls.
Familiarity with data management tools and technologies (e.g., data catalogues, metadata management platforms).
Experience working with cross-functional teams including Legal, IT, Risk, and Business Operations.
Prior involvement in audit processes, risk assessments, or regulatory reporting is desirable.
Professional certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CDMP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer) are advantageous.
