Job Description


Our client, a leading professional membership body based in Hertfordshire, a short commute from London is looking for a Data Protection Specialist to support the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and organisation on all data protection and information law matters. This full-time, permanent role will work in a hybrid pattern, working 2 days a week in the office and the remainder from home. The Data Protection Specialist will support the provision of all data protection and information governance advice and guidance to ensure the organisation continues to meet national and international information legislation, regulation and best practice. Responsibilities will include (amongst others):

  • Support and coordinate the data protection training programme.
  • Support to maintain the suite of data protection policies and guidance.
  • Support the incident and breach response management programme.
  • Coordinate data subject rights requests.
  • Deputise for the Data Protection Officer, when required.
  • Assist and advise on data protection contract clauses and international data transfer risk assessments.
Alongside possessing the below mentioned experience / aptitude, the ideal Data Protection Specialist will have excellent communication and analytical skills, as well as great attention to detail:
  • Good data protection law knowledge, particularly Data Protection Act 2018 and EU/UK GDPR, and PECR, and a willingness to maintain up to date data protection legislation knowledge and learn applicable international data protection law.
  • Demonstrable experience in a data protection or information governance role, or compliance/legal background.
  • A willingness to study and work towards data protection qualifications, if not already attained.
  • Experience in providing advice and support in data protection matters.
