Our products are used by over 16,000 pubs, restaurants, and hotels. Customers include national brands like Pizza Express and All Bar One.

We provide our customers with the solutions they need to make their business a success.

These solutions include mobile apps for ordering and web apps for engaging with consumers either through loyalty or reservations. By linking these solutions to Zonal\xe2\x80\x99s EPoS (till) system, we help hospitality brands to understand their customers\xe2\x80\x99 behaviour and preferences, enabling them to excel in an increasingly competitive market.

We are a family business with Scottish roots. We operate from our modern head office in Edinburgh to our Marketing Technologies Division in Staffordshire, or our Innovation Centre in Abingdon and hotel management solutions base in Cardiff.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

This role sits within the Managed Services team and is part of the wider Zonal Technical Services business unit. Our suite of SaaS, distributed systems and integrations help our customers run their business-critical services, providing their customers with industry leading hospitality technology products.

You\xe2\x80\x99ll play a key role in our Data Platform team that is responsible for architecture, design and delivery of enterprise grade transactional and business reporting solutions based on SQL Server, Microsoft Data Platform and Atlas DB.

You will work closely with teams in Development, Networks, Platform Engineering, and DevOps to deliver and continually improve our customer-facing services.

You and your team will:

• Build strong, collaborative relationships with architects, operations and engineering teams
• Design, deliver and maintain production and pre-production services, ensuring robustness and consistency
• Develop and continually improve:

• Monitoring and efficiency
• Availability, performance and scaling
• Operational and security procedures, tooling
• Disaster recovery and data protection frameworks
• Bring expertise and a streetwise perspective to problem solving and reduction of complexity
• Keep up to date with industry trends, standards and innovations

Who you are

You will have had a background in highly available database environments having spent at least some of your career as a member of a fast-paced engineering, deployment, or platform team - ideally this will have been in virtualised datacentre or public cloud web infrastructure.

• Experienced in running Microsoft Data Platform technologies, data lake concepts, SQL Server and AtlasDB skills are a bonus
• Solid monitoring and tuning skills in highly available transactional platforms
• Comfortable in hands-on and PowerShell administration, automation, and tooling in complex provisioning and deployment scenarios
• A self-starter with a passion for technology and problem solving
• A champion of automate everything, document everything
• Minimum 3+ years in administration of production database services
