Flower Pots Day Nursery is looking for a

motivated, reliable, and caring Kitchen Assistant

to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our children through nutritious meals and a clean, well-run kitchen environment.

As a valued member of our nursery team, you'll help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen by preparing and serving meals, maintaining hygiene standards, and supporting our children's dietary needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to planned menus, portion sizes, and dietary guidelines. Ensure meals are presented attractively and served on time. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and waste management. Follow all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations in line with current standards. Support children's individual dietary requirements, working with the management team to provide appropriate meals. Keep accurate stock records and assist with ordering and stock control. Report any kitchen or equipment maintenance needs promptly. Contribute ideas for menu improvements, considering nutrition and variety. Work cooperatively with nursery staff and contribute to a friendly, positive environment.

What We're Looking For:

Experience in a catering or kitchen environment (nursery or school setting preferred). Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices. Understanding of dietary requirements and allergies. Good organisational and time-management skills. High attention to detail and a strong commitment to cleanliness. Friendly, team-oriented approach and good communication skills. Relevant food hygiene certification (desirable but not essential -- training can be provided).
