Defects Coordinator

Leeds, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Job Introduction

Are you ready to play a key role in shaping the future of our new build homes? As a Defects Coordinator in our brilliant Development team, you'll be at the heart of making sure our customers get the best possible experience. You'll build strong relationships with contractors and consultants, keep things moving with clear and accurate reporting, and help resolve queries with a focus on great communication. It's a chance to make a real impact, improve how we do things, and help us deliver homes we're proud of.

What we're all about

Here at Yorkshire Housing our customers are at the heart of what we do - we call it being customer obsessed. In a nutshell we own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire, and our mission is to make it possible for our tenants to have a place they're proud to call home.

We have huge growth plans, and that involves the development of new build homes, and giving the customers the best service...that is where you come in!

We want to ensure we have strong communications channels with all external contractors to resolve defects and provide customers with responses to their complaints, improving our service and generally supporting our development team.

What you'll be getting up to

No two days are the same in this role! One day you might be pulling together reports for our technical and development teams, keeping everyone in the loop. The next, you'll be chatting with customers and managing contractors to sort out home defects, getting quotes for repairs, and working with our surveyors to resolve issues like latent defects and warranty claims.

You'll also be responsible for monitoring the general enquiry queue for the Aftercare team on our new platform, Salesforce as well as managing defect queries through our team inbox. This will include updating customer cases and completing tasks relating to the defect/enquiry.

Communication is a big part of this role, and we're looking for someone who's keen to help us improve how we connect with our customers.

This is an agile home-working role, with occasional visits to our central Leeds workspace, alongside other Yorkshire Housing locations and development sites.

Sounds good? Here's what we need from you...

We're looking for someone who's great with people and even better at keeping things running smoothly. If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, working with others, and making a real difference for customers, this could be the role for you. You'll be confident using different communication channels, happy working to targets, and keen to keep learning and growing with us.

Not from a housing or construction background? That's absolutely fine. What matters most to us is your mindset, adaptability, and the transferable skills you bring. If you're curious, driven, and ready to make an impact--we'd love to hear from you.

What we're looking for:

A positive attitude and ability to work to targets Great communication skills - whether it's over the phone or by email Strong admin skills and a good eye for detail Able to check reports for accuracy and consistency Comfortable using Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook and other Office 365 tools Good with numbers and written communication Happy to work flexibly - from home, YH workspace, or out and about at various development sites across Yorkshire Ideally you'll also have a valid UK Driving License and access to a vehicle for work purposes
