About the company

English Brothers Limited is a well-established privately owned timber merchant situated between Wisbech and Kings Lynn just off the A47.

The company is proud of its excellent reputation within the area and deals with a broad range of customers including builders, carpenters, landscapers, fencing contractors and, increasingly, homeowners and DIY enthusiasts.

The product range is diverse covering most aspects of the timber industry from the construction sector to garden products such as fencing, decking and sheds. The company also stocks a large range of ironmongery, metal and wire fencing, paints, stains and treatments.

Additionally, the company manufactures a small range of well-made products such as field and entrance gates, fence panels, sheds and Timber Frame Homes.

The majority of our deliveries are within a 30 mile radius but our Timber Frame Kits are Country wide.

The role

Our delivery drivers work closely with the Retail and Timber Frame Team. He/she will report to the delivery organisers for guidance on workload and is expected to deliver excellent customer service, exceeding customer's needs and expectations. Utilising one of four delivery vehicles. From 1 tonne transit to 18 tonne Hiab rigid.

Your aim is to provide a delivery service that is professional, courteous, efficient and timely. Our drivers must ensure that his/her delivery load is accurate and properly secured.

Drivers work as part of a team and contribute to the overall success of the retail side of the business. Drivers are responsible for the cleanliness and day to day general maintenance of the delivery vehicles. He/she may also be asked to undertake other duties in the yard and workshop as required. This may include loading their own vehicles, helping around the yard or in the factory.

Responsibilities and Activities

Delivery of retail and timber frame orders.

Assist retail staff in picking orders. The driver will be expected to learn the products that English Brothers Ltd sell. Accurately pick customer's orders. Loading of customer's orders on to company vehicles for delivery. Ensure load is safe and secure. Delivery of goods in accordance with customer and staff instructions. Off load deliveries at desired destination. Provide a goods receipt to customers and return signed receipts to delivery co-ordinators.

Vehicle maintenance

Daily vehicle checks Daily vehicle maintenance for example topping up of fluids Keep vehicles clean and tidy Report hazards or damage to vehicles

Support staff.

Liaise and assist retail staff Liaise with customers and delivery co-ordinators Aid manufacturing staff when required Perform other related duties as required

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge

Experience in a customer-facing role ideally HGV1 or 2 CPC trained

Skills

This role is physically demanding and requires a person with a good level of fitness to carry out the duties required of this position. Manual handling is required regularly throughout the day. The role is mainly driving and outdoors and will involve working in all weathers.

You will be dealing with our valued customers and construction site operatives. Representing English Brothers and upholding the company's reputation.
