Yorkshire Dental Suite, Leeds, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented
Dental Decontamination Technician
to join our friendly and professional team. This vital role ensures the safe, effective, and compliant decontamination, sterilisation, and storage of all dental instruments and equipment in line with HTM 01-05 guidelines, CQC requirements, and our practice protocols.

Key Responsibilities
Instrument Decontamination & Sterilisation
Receive, clean, and inspect used dental instruments.
Operate ultrasonic cleaners, washer disinfectors, and autoclaves safely.
Record and monitor sterilisation cycles to ensure compliance.
Package and store sterile instruments to maintain sterility.
Infection Prevention & Control
Follow HTM 01-05 and local IPC protocols at all times.
Safely dispose of clinical waste, sharps, and hazardous materials.
Maintain a clean and organised decontamination area.
Report any equipment issues promptly.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate logs and traceability records.
Support audits and inspections by providing evidence of compliance.
Stay informed of any updates in IPC legislation or guidance.
Teamwork & Communication
Liaise with clinical staff to ensure efficient instrument turnaround.
Assist with stock control of sterile supplies and PPE.
Promote best practices in infection control throughout the practice.
Training & Development
Attend mandatory and ongoing infection control training.
Undertake relevant CPD to keep skills and knowledge up to date.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Understanding of infection control practices and HTM 01-05 (training provided if needed)
Excellent attention to detail and methodical work style
Basic IT skills for record-keeping
Strong team player with the ability to work independently
Commitment to high hygiene and safety standards
Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination
Desirable:
Experience in dental or healthcare settings
Decontamination or sterilisation training/certification
Working Conditions
Role based in a designated decontamination room
Frequent use of PPE including gloves, masks, and eye protection
Exposure to biological hazards mitigated by strict protocols
