Job Description

Dental Nurse Qualification:

A fundamental requirement, providing the clinical knowledge and practical experience necessary to understand the decontamination process.

Developing and implementing decontamination policies and procedures:



Ensuring staff compliance with practice protocols, and developing contingency plans.

Training and supervising staff:



Providing initial training for new employees and ensuring all team members are competent in decontamination procedures.

Maintaining a clean and safe environment:



Ensuring that instruments, equipment, and the dental surgery are properly decontaminated and maintained to a high standard of hygiene.

Monitoring and auditing:



Regularly monitoring decontamination processes, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring the practice meets relevant standards like HTM 01-05.

Managing resources:



Ensuring adequate supplies of cleaning and disinfection products are available and utilized effectively.

Liaising with external services:



Communicating with sterilisation services and other relevant bodies to ensure seamless processes.

Staying up-to-date with guidelines:



Keeping abreast of current legislation, guidelines, and best practices related to infection control and decontamination.

Training and Qualifications:

Dental Nurse Qualification:

A thorough understanding of guidelines like HTM 01-05 is essential for compliance.
