Role Overview



As our Dental Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients. You will help ensure that every person who visits the practice or contacts us by phone/email receives a professional, friendly and efficient service. You will manage the front-desk, appointment bookings, patient enquiries, basic administration and support the clinical team as needed.

Key Responsibilities



Greet and welcome patients and visitors with a friendly, calm and professional manner. Answer inbound telephone calls, emails and enquiries, and manage appointment bookings. Maintain the patient appointment diary/bookings system accurately. Ensure patient records are updated and maintained (within GDPR and practice policy). Process payments, handle invoicing or basic billing (if required) and ensure smooth patient check-in/check-out. Communicate effectively with dentists, hygienists, dental nurses and other staff to ensure smooth patient flow. Maintain a tidy, organised reception and waiting area; ensure patients feel comfortable. Handle any general administrative tasks as required (filing, data entry, ordering supplies, liaising with other departments). Uphold confidentiality, data protection and professional standards at all times.

Candidate Profile



Previous experience in a receptionist/administrative role is desirable; experience in a dental or healthcare setting is a strong advantage. Excellent telephone manner and strong customer service skills. Well organised, able to prioritise tasks and remain calm and efficient under pressure. Strong IT skills (comfortable with Microsoft Office, email, booking software; familiarity with dental practice software is a plus). Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Punctual, reliable, and able to work as part of a team. A friendly, patient-centric attitude with a professional appearance. Willingness to learn and adapt to practice systems and protocols.
