Dental Nurse & Reception Support - Full-Time
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Receptionist / Dental Nurse to join our supportive and dynamic team in a full-time, permanent role. This is a dual-position combining clinical dental nursing duties with reception and administrative support. The ideal candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent patient care and contributing to the smooth day-to-day operations of the practice.
Requirements
Previous experience in an office or administrative role is highly desirable.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with patients and staff.
Proficiency in using computer systems and dental software is an advantage.
A friendly disposition with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated when required
Clinical Duties
Assist dentists during examinations and treatments, ensuring instruments and materials are prepared and organised.
Sterilise and maintain dental equipment in line with strict health and safety and infection control regulations.
Reassure and support patients throughout their visit, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
Utilise four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure clinical efficiency.
Support the dental team in maintaining exceptional hygiene standards and practice protocols.
Reception & Administrative Duties
Provide front desk and reception cover during staff breaks, holidays, and busy times.
Welcome patients in person and over the phone with warmth and professionalism.
Manage appointment bookings, phone enquiries, patient records, and payment processes efficiently.
Use dental practice management software to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
Support inventory management and the ordering of dental supplies.
Help manage appointment flow to ensure minimal waiting times and maximum patient satisfaction.
Patient Care & Communication
Deliver excellent customer service at every stage of the patient journey.
Clearly explain treatment procedures, aftercare instructions, and answer queries with empathy.
Ensure patient privacy and comfort at all times.
Maintain confidentiality in line with GDPR and professional standards.
Technical Skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a busy clinical environment.
Confident with IT systems, including digital radiography and patient management software.
Knowledge of dental terminology, treatments, and cross-infection control practices.
Personal Skills
Friendly, calm, and reassuring manner with a patient-first approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
Flexible team player who can also work independently.
Attention to detail and a professional approach to all tasks.
Experience & Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (or equivalent) preferred.
GDC registration as a Dental Nurse (required or willingness to obtain).
Minimum 1 year of dental nursing experience (required).
Reception or customer service experience is a plus but not essential.
CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Language Requirements
Excellent spoken and written English.
Confident communicator with patients from diverse backgrounds.
