What you'll be doing



We're expanding our works programme and looking for an experienced Depot Supervisor to join our Construction Delivery team. You'll manage the ordering, receipt, issuing and secure storage of materials, vehicles and equipment at a busy highways depot.



Alongside this, you'll supervise daily yard activities, keep the depot tidy and safe, and maintain plant and equipment including power tools and forklifts. A key part of your role will be tracking and organising inventory so that stock levels meet the needs of our highways and associated services. Dorset Highways looks after more than 2,400 miles of roads along with bridges, footways, drainage and signage, so your work will be essential in keeping Dorset moving.


About you



You're a dedicated and passionate individual with an interest in highway construction and maintenance. You enjoy working outdoors, learning new skills, and care about your community, wanting to make Dorset an even better place to live, work and visit.



Ideally, you'll have experience in stores or yard management, some practical construction know-how, and you'll feel comfortable using a computer.


What we'll need from you




a full driving licence a willingness to learn, work as part of a team, be adaptable and reliable basic computer literacy

It would also be helpful, though not essential, if you have forklift or loading shovel qualifications, experience maintaining power tools, plant operation experience, or an LGV licence.

Our services run 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, so there will be times when you'll need to take part in an out of hours standby rota. The current payment for each week on call is 185.61, paid on top of your salary. If you're ready to play a key part in keeping Dorset's roads safe and well maintained, we'd love to hear from you.
