Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Level 3 Childcare Practitioner to join our team as Deputy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a strong understanding of early childhood education principles.

This position will be for approximately 19.25 hours per week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, term time only. Hours and days subject to change due to the nature of the role, adhering to child numbers and staff ratios but this will always be discussed.

The role is based at our WOEC setting and the successful candidate will be required to work with children aged between 2 and 4 years old.

Main job purpose



To work alongside a team of Childcare Assistants and the Room Lead to provide a safe, stimulating and clean environment for the children.

To support the care, progression and learning of the children attending Allsorts by providing a high-quality childcare provision.

Duties and responsibilities



- To deputise for the Room Lead in their absence.

- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children in the setting.

- Undertake all aspects of childcare including personal care, help with feeding and ensuring the children in Allsorts' care are well-looked after.

- Read, implement and adhere to all policies and procedures.

- Perform the Key Person role to ensure every child's learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs.

- Work alongside the team to ensure the safeguarding of all of the children in the setting.

- Engage and support parents and/or carers in guiding their child's development at home. Help families engage with more specialist support if appropriate.

- Help to plan and implement activities whilst building a child centred approach to learning.

- Write observations and keep accurate records for the setting and the children

- Ensure confidentiality within the setting is maintained at all times.

- Attend team meetings and in-house training.

- Any lesser or comparable duties as required.

NB: The duties and responsibilities of this post are not restrictive and the post holder may be required on occasion to undertake other duties. This will not substantially change the nature of the post.

Contacts and relationships



- Build good relationships with parents and the provision of information for them.

- Work alongside Reception teachers to ensure a smooth transition for children going to primary school.

- Liaise with outside agencies such as SALT, health visitors, social workers, Best Start in Life Advisors etc. to ensure the needs of children are met, under the direction of the Room Lead.

- Report any areas for concern to the Room Lead and/or Directors.

- Support and assist with college or work experience students within the setting.

Essential for the Role:



Minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Childcare and Education Previous experience working in childcare Knowledge of legislation relevant to Early Years, such as EYFS, SEN, Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding and the Childcare Act 2016 Have a working knowledge of safeguarding children Ability to work within a team Ability to work independently and use own initiative
