Overview
We are seeking an On Shift Deputy Manager to join our team in our Children's home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Children's homes with a passion for providing high-quality services to children and young people.
Duties
To support the Homes Manager in ensuring a high-quality service is delivered and maintained effectively in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
To work in accordance with New hope own care standards and apply them to your working practice and support colleagues to apply them to their own practice.
To support Team Leaders and RCW's to have the skills, knowledge and ability to manage RCW's effectively.
Ensuring that staff understand and are fully aware of the daily routines of the home.
Work within organisational policy and procedures established in the home.
Ensuring all staff are aware of their role and responsibilities in relation to the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
Ensuring that Children's reviews and meetings are delivered within the required timescales.
Ensuring that Local Authority and New Hope care plans/ placement plans are in place within recommended timescales and that staff fully understand their role.
Chair or participate in meetings and reviews as and when required.
Ensure that the standards expected in the delivery of care are upheld and the standing of the organization is maintained.
Take the lead in ensuring an open culture is created, one in which children can complain and that are listened to.
Ensure that all staff work within a non-discriminatory environment.
Assist the Homes Manager in the administration of financial related issues.
Undertake and participate in any training programs which are relevant to the employment of staff working in Children's Services, paying particular regard to residential care.
Deputise in the absence of the Homes Manager and cover for team leaders where necessary.
Ensure staff fully understand the role of a keyworker and make sure systems are in place for the delivery of this practice.
Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff.
Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practice, homes procedures, companys policies and Children's Regulations.
Produce, coordinate and edit reports.
To contribute to the On call system.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
Where required be involved in the staff recruitment process.
Ability to demonstrate self-awareness
Ability to demonstrate assertiveness
Able to act calmly and purposely in challenging situations.
Sound knowledge of governing legislation, procedures and best practice in caring for Looked After Children.
Able to manage own time and admin tasks effectively to meet goals.
Reviewing of young people's plans
Monitoring staff illness and holidays.
Arranging team meetings and ensuring all minutes are filed.
Requirements
- Experience in managing or supervising within a Children's home setting
- Strong leadership skills to guide and support the staff team
- Knowledge of best practices in Children's homes
- Ability to work effectively in a child-centered environment with compassion and empathy
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: 15.50-16.50 per hour
