Based in our purpose-designed, three-bedded Ofsted-registered home, we are seeking a passionate Deputy Manager to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of the children we support.

About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in all aspects of the home's leadership and management. You will take a hands-on approach in delivering therapeutic, child-centred care while ensuring compliance with The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards. You will provide day-to-day guidance to a dedicated team of residential staff, foster a positive and nurturing environment, and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the home.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Registered Manager in the operational and strategic management of the home.
Lead by example in delivering high-quality, therapeutic care tailored to each child's individual needs.
Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations, The Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and other relevant legislation.
Assist in recruiting, mentoring, and developing the staff team to uphold a culture of excellence, safety, and accountability.
Promote a strong safeguarding ethos and ensure robust risk assessments and care plans are in place.
Build effective relationships with children, staff, families, local authorities, and external professionals.
Monitor care standards and contribute to audits, inspections, and service development initiatives.
Act as a professional role model, supporting a home environment that fosters emotional resilience, independence, and positive outcomes.
Maintain the home's standards and ethos in line with its Statement of Purpose
Ensure shift leadership, handovers, and paperwork are completed accurately and professionally.
What we're looking for:
A minimum of one year's experiencein a children's residential care setting, with demonstrable supervisory or shift-leading responsibilities
A recognised Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare(or equivalent in Children and Young People's Workforce)
Full UK driving licence
Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of motivating and managing teams in a residential childcare environment
A flexible approach to working hours, including the ability to work shifts, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and participate in sleep-ins, as required
A compassionate, trauma-informed approach to supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), underpinned by emotional intelligence and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for looked-after children
A strong sense of professionalresilience, combined with the ability to maintain humour and composure in what can be a challenging yet highly rewarding environment.
Excellent interpersonaland communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, staff, and external professionals
A positive, proactive, and solution-focused mindset, capable of creatively managing behaviours and responding to the individual needs of young people.
Confident use of IT systems and accurate record-keeping
Experience working within a therapeutic or trauma-informed model of care
Desirable:
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within a children's residential care setting.
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child development, and therapeutic approaches.
Experience in supporting the setup or early-stage development of children's homes.
Experience working with children with EBD and/or LD needs.
A track record of contributing to or leading successful Ofsted inspections.
