This role includes managing staff, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, supporting care planning, and ensuring excellent customer service for clients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Assist the Registered Manager in the overall leadership and management of the service.
Supervise, support, and mentor care staff, ensuring performance standards are met.
Contribute to the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff members.
Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals, and spot checks in line with company policy.
Care Quality & Compliance
Ensure the service operates in line with CQC (or relevant regulator) standards, company policies, and best practice guidelines.
Support the implementation and auditing of quality assurance systems.
Investigate complaints, incidents, and safeguarding concerns, and implement corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records, ensuring all documentation is compliant and up to date.
Care Coordination & Service Delivery
Support the development and review of person-centred care plans and risk assessments.
Assist with managing rotas to ensure safe staffing levels and continuity of care.
Help manage scheduling issues and respond to unexpected operational challenges.
Lead by example by occasionally delivering care in emergency situations or peak periods.
Communication & Relationship Management
Maintain strong, positive relationships with clients, families, staff, and external professionals.
Liaise with healthcare professionals, commissioners, and other stakeholders.
Handle sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism.
Business Support
Contribute to service growth through excellent client experience and retention.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service quality.
Assist in preparing reports, audits, and compliance documentation for senior leadership.
Requirements:
Essential
Experience working in home care/domiciliary care or a similar social care setting.
Supervisory or team leader experience.
Understanding of care regulations and safeguarding responsibilities.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work flexibly, including participation in the on-call rota.
Desirable
NVQ/QCF Level 3 Health & Social Care (minimum); Level 4 or 5 desirable or willingness to work toward.
Experience in scheduling/rota management.
Knowledge of electronic care management systems.
