to support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of The Holt Bar & Terrace. This is a hands-on operational role with people and service at its heart. You'll help manage the team, ensure excellent customer experience, and support the smooth delivery of bar, cafe, and event services.
Responsibilities
Support the General Manager with the overall running of the bar, cafe, and events.
Lead shifts and be a visible, hands-on presence across front-of-house and bar operations.
Motivate, supervise, and support staff during service, ensuring standards are upheld.
Assist with staff rotas, training, inductions, and maintaining a positive team culture.
Ensure cleanliness, safety, and presentation of all public areas to the highest standards.
Support delivery of events, both internal and for clients, ensuring smooth operations.
Help maintain compliance with licensing laws, health & safety, and food hygiene standards.
Liaise with kitchen/bar teams to ensure quality control of food and beverage service.
Manage stock levels, supplier deliveries, and report any operational issues promptly.
Represent The Holt's ethos and standards to members, customers, and the wider community.
Experience:
Previous experience in a hospitality supervisory or assistant manager role.
Experience supporting or leading service in a busy, customer-facing environment.
Familiarity with cash handling, stock management, and compliance basics.
Event or function support experience is desirable.

Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
Calm under pressure with great customer service instincts.
Organised, dependable, and a natural problem solver.
Confident with tech (till systems, rota tools, basic IT).
