We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and hardworking early years professional to take on the role of Deputy Manager and join the management team of our largest nursery in Edinburgh, City and Little Nursery, located in the leafy and quiet suburb of Greenbank EH10 near Morningside. The nursery is set over two large spacious buildings, each with well resourced playrooms, dining areas, sleep rooms and sensory areas. Each building also has free flow access to attractive garden areas and large staff rooms with kitchen facilities. The nursery is served by local buses and ample on street parking is also available for staff travelling by car.

Candidates should be qualified to at least HNC/SVQ Level 3/SCQF level 7 in childcare, and currently hold, be studying for or prepared to commence studying for an Early Years management qualification.

Preferred candidates will have experience at nursery Room Senior level or above and possess a good working knowledge of current best practice, and associated documentation, in early years. We are looking for someone friendly, approachable, and committed to supporting our staff team in providing excellence in care, nurture and learning for our children. The successful candidate is expected to be proactive in the role, and a good team player and role model for staff, with understanding of the importance of diplomacy and professionalism when leading a team. We are also looking for someone who will use their initiative to seek opportunities to enhance and improve our service under the leadership and direction of the Nursery Manager.

The role will be predominantly floor based in the playrooms on a supernumerary basis, mentoring and supporting staff, and coordinating the provision of high quality, age appropriate environments and experiences for children both in and outdoors. The post will also involve overseeing our online observations, auditing, monitoring and evaluation of room practice and procedures, and deputising in the office in the manager's absence. Candidates should have good IT skills and a good standard of written communication in this respect.

Salary is 30k and this role is 40 hours per week over 4 days between 7.30 am and 6 pm with a floating day off.
