To effectively support the primary manager in the day to day running of Young Adult Respite Service (YARS) Day Centre, ensuring we provide our young disabled adults with a safe, nurturing and empowering environment. To ensure young adults are provided with high quality levels of care, advice and support to live a fulfilling life.
Principal Accountabilities
Management of staff and volunteers, including regular one-to-ones, appraisals and ensuring all HR procedures are maintained in the Day Centre and accurately recorded.
Ensure staff and volunteers engage in daily interaction with service users, building appropriate relationships and providing information, support and guidance.
Ensure effective case work is undertaken with service users by the manager and staff, and that this is recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
With the Project Co-ordinator oversee development and implementation of a plan of activities and events to support clients.
Ensure risk assessments are in place for all service users who are medium to high risk, and complete risk assessment activities.
Responsible for Health and Safety of the Day Centre staff, volunteers, service users and visitors.
Manage staffing levels to ensure sufficient numbers of suitably qualified staff.
Effectively manage the staff team providing information, guidance and on-going supervision and performance management reviews.
Effectively communicate information and instructions to staff and service users.
Provide leadership to ensure staff are clear about their duties and responsibilities.
Understand and monitor health and safety in the workplace.
Manage and coordinate governance and quality assurance activity.
Promote the interests of people supported and provide a person-centred service.
Communicate effectively with people supported, their families and representatives, staff and other health and social care professionals to deliver the best possible care and support.
To maintain separate files containing reports on happenings during daily sessions, (for example, fire drills, accidents and other reportable incidents).

Person Specification - Essential Requirements:
Experience
2 Years experience as a supervisor / team leader / deputy manager.
Experience in managing Human Resource issues.
Experience in interagency working.
Experience in the management of budgets.
Significant experience of supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or complex needs, behavioural or physical support needs.
Skills and Knowledge
Demonstrate values consistent with those of the organisation.
Ability to implement initiatives relating to service delivery, improvement, and modernisation.
Knowledge of, and lead on the ongoing development and implementation of systems that ensure compliance with regulatory/inspection regimes.
Knowledge of current best practice in relation to people with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge.
Ability to manage change.
Ability to manage and lead teams of staff.
Understanding of the wider issues affecting the sector.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Promote the interests of people using the service through the provision of Recovery/Staying well/Person centred planning using co-production principles.
Computer literate and experienced in using Microsoft Office packages.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Evidence of personal development.
Qualifications & Training
Degree or equivalent, working towards or completed a NVQ Level 5 Leadership and Management of Adult Care or equivalent. An equivalent example maybe be a residential care setting , proven track record as a Deputy Manager with 'Good' or 'Outstanding' graded homes.

Car Owner and Driver.
Be willing to get their D1 licence to drive a minibus.
