Sharp observation skills -- you can quickly count and keep track of many lively little ones on the move. You should be comfortable with the realities of childcare, including the occasional mysterious stains on your clothes and a keen sense of smell for those unexpected moments. Resilience in an environment that can sometimes look like a tornado's aftermath. The ability to pretend to eat playdough creations with enthusiasm (this skill develops over time). A strong memory for children's names, their families, pets, and favourite toys. Willingness to sit on furniture much smaller than you're used to. Patience to read long stories with frequent interruptions. A readiness to have fun and laugh a lot during your workday. Above all, a passion for feeling loved and making children and their families feel important.
