We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Operations Manager to join our dynamic team in Stoke-on-Trent. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to our mission of providing exceptional service and quality products to our customers while supporting the overall operational efficiency of the company with specific ownership of leakage control, identifying and preventing stock loss, damage, and inefficiency across the network, while contributing to continuous improvement and readiness for future automation and system integration.
Responsibilities
Support the Operations Manager in managing all warehouse operations and logistics across sites.
Lead on leakage control and stock integrity - monitor and investigate stock discrepancies, damage, courier losses, and returns.
Develop and maintain leakage reports and KPIs, presenting weekly findings to the Ops Manager and senior management.
Work closely with warehouse managers to ensure consistency, accountability, and adherence to best practices and SOPs.
Identify process weaknesses and implement practical solutions to reduce waste, damage, and delays.
Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity, accuracy, and stock flow across sites.
Audit warehouse performance, accuracy, and compliance regularly.
Support the roll-out of new systems, policies, and efficiency initiatives (e.g., EasyWMS updates, conveyor calibration, downtime reporting).
Act as cover for the Operations Manager when required, maintaining site leadership and decision-making authority.
Foster collaboration between warehouse, logistics, and customer service teams to reduce errors and improve service.
Assist in warehouse readiness for peak periods, system go-lives, and stocktake events.
Champion health and safety standards and promote a culture of responsibility and cleanliness on site.
Skills & Experience
Background in warehousing, logistics, or operations management (multi-site preferred).
Strong analytical mindset and experience with KPI tracking or process improvement.
Proven record in reducing waste, damages, or inefficiencies.
Experience working with WMS or automation systems (e.g., EasyWMS, conveyor or racking automation advantageous).
Confident communicator able to influence, support, and train site teams.
Proactive, practical, and highly organised, with excellent attention to detail.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where no two days are the same.
