Job Title:

Deputy Play Manager

Job Purpose:

To enable children to engage in a range of play opportunities to deputise for the Play Manager in his/her absence and to lead staff on areas agreed with the Play Manager e.g. EYFS, SEN

Reports to: Play Manager

Salary:

13.45 per hour

Hours:

School term time hours for After School Club*

Minimum of 16 hours per week during school term time for After School Club.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 14:30 - 18:30 (children are present 15:20 - 18:00).

School holiday hours for Holiday Club*

Minimum of 18 hours per week during school holidays for Holiday Club.

Holiday Club opening hours are Tuesday to Thursday 08:00 - 18:30 (children are present from 08:30-18:00). You will work a 6-hour shift each day, times to be agreed.

*Overtime may be required in exceptional circumstances and with the approval of the Management Committee.

The Client is currently evaluating its Holiday Club opening hours. It is currently open Tuesday - Thursday and may open on a Monday as well. We would therefore like the post holder to have the ability to increase their working week during school holiday times if necessary.

Main duties and responsibilities

Play Work To enable children to engage in a range of play opportunities allowing for safe risks and challenges

To work within the EYFS and promote high standards of care for children of all ages within the setting To develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families and other team members

To maintain children's safety and wellbeing at all times during attendance at the play setting and on trips. To take any action required to ensure the safety and welfare of children and to report any concern immediately to the Play Manager To assist with the planning and delivery of a wide range of activities to meet children's needs

To assist the Play Manager with preparing the play environment, including equipment, resources and snacks, ready for the arrival of the children

To support individual children and assist their development through play

To use observation and reflective practice to contribute to planning and evaluation in the setting

To support and assist with the development of a play environment which is inclusive for all and recognises and encourages diversity

To keep records as required, eg accident/incident forms, learning diaries and observations

To maintain a child-centred environment by reviewing displays, resources and room layout

To work within agreed policies and procedures at all times

To represent the setting professionally at all times, maintaining the settings integrity and being open to giving and receiving feedback

To liaise with school staff regarding all matters concerning children

To attend staff meetings, supervision and appraisals and relevant identified training.

Additional tasks as Deputy Play Manger

To work closely with the Play Manager and have a full understanding of their role in the day to day running of the setting in order to deputise for them and be responsible for the children in the setting in their absence

To lead staff on areas agreed with the Play Manager e.g. EYFS delivery, SEN

To assist the Play Manager in ensuring good communication between staff and parents/carers/school

To work as a positive role model for members of the staff team

Qualifications



Proven experience in childcare and early childhood education Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children and parents Demonstrated management and leadership abilities Relevant nursery experience Proficiency in English, both written and verbal Valid driving license to facilitate transportation as needed

Other

To undertake any other duties as reasonably directed by the Playleader, Deputy or

management committee.

Pay: 13.45-13.50 per hour
