Heat Pump System Design Engineer

to join our team and support the delivery of energy-efficient projects.

Role Overview:



As a

Heat Pump System Design Engineer

, you will be responsible for the design, specification, and technical development of heat pump systems for various applications. This is an office-based role where you will work closely with clients, project managers, heating engineers and installation teams to ensure the successful design and implementation of heat pump solutions.

Key Responsibilities:



Design heat pump systems for residential and commercial projects. Perform heat loss calculations, energy efficiency assessments, and system sizing. Produce quotations and contract documentation for clients. Produce technical drawings, schematics, and specifications. Provide technical support to sales, installation teams, and clients. Assist with product selection, material specifications, and cost estimations. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimise system performance. Keep up to date with the latest advancements in heat pump technology and energy efficiency trends. Conduct site surveys to assess project feasibility.

Skills & Experience Required:



Educational Background:

Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Building Services, or a related field.

Experience:

Ideally 2 years' experience in heat pump design, HVAC, or renewable energy engineering, or similar field.

Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of heat pump technology, thermodynamics, and system design principles.

Software Proficiency:

Experience with CAD software, heat load calculation tools, Microsoft Office Suite etc.

Industry Knowledge:

Familiarity with MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme), building regulations, and renewable energy incentives.

Problem-Solving Skills:

Ability to troubleshoot and optimise system designs.

Communication Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills for liaising with clients, contractors, and team members.

Attention to Detail:

Precise approach to engineering calculations and design documentation.

Skills & Experience Desired:



Experience working within a heat pump or renewable energy company. Knowledge of hydronic heating systems and underfloor and radiant heating. Certification in heat pump installation or design. Understanding of UK government incentives for renewable energy systems.
