We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, analysing, and refining mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and industry standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge system design projects within a collaborative environment, utilising advanced software tools and engineering principles. The ideal applicant will possess a strong foundation in mechanical knowledge, system design, and schematic development, with experience in CAD and simulation software.
Duties
Develop detailed designs for mechanical and electrical systems using CAD software such as SolidWorks and Schematics tools.
Conduct root cause analysis to identify issues within existing designs or systems and implement effective solutions.
Utilise Simulink and MATLAB to model, simulate, and optimise system performance prior to physical implementation.
Design control systems incorporating programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and integrate them into overall system architecture.
Create comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics, system diagrams, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) annotations.
Perform system design tasks that meet client specifications while adhering to safety standards and industry regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components with electronic control systems using LabVIEW or similar tools.
Support prototype development through testing, troubleshooting, and iterative refinement of designs.
Stay updated on emerging engineering technologies and incorporate best practices into project workflows.
Experience
Proven experience in mechanical or electrical system design within an engineering environment.
Strong proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and familiarity with schematics development.
Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, and other simulation tools for system modelling.
Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) programming and integration is highly desirable.
Familiarity with GD&T principles for precise manufacturing tolerances.
Practical understanding of root cause analysis techniques applied to engineering problems.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
Mechanical knowledge relevant to complex system design projects is essential. This position offers an excellent platform for engineers eager to advance their careers by working on innovative projects that challenge their technical expertise while contributing significantly to our organisation's success.
